Acolytes to the beginning and the end, the Dervishes live an existence dedicated to the one true lord. Their worship is through song and dance, and each day they parade through the streets of Avesta, twirling in their long robes, creating a clamour of tinkling bells and chimes. Hounds accompany them, barking and jumping alongside the spiralling dance. The Dervishes have no church, but sleep under the prayer obelisk each night, so as to be close to Ahura Vairya in the hours of darkness with Angra Mainyu reigns. They are fed and clothed, through the kindness of the community.
